Mobile patent wars

Suing competitors seems to a favorite pastime for the mobile companies. Guardian made an article of the latest patent libel cases but the illustration is quite – well it could be better. So, here’s my attempt to clarify the picture of who’s suing who.

The size of node corresponds to the parties suing the company, and the size of the label corresponds to the parties sued by the company. A thicker line between the nodes means that both have sued each other.

Nokia and Apple are active on the suing front, while Apple, Sharp and Motorola seem to be on the receiving end.

Remember the times the patent lawyers promoted business and innovation? Me neither.

(Update): The node in the lower left corner is supposed to be Sony-Ericsson. A minor cropping accident…
